Tropical Fluff is a perfect sweet treat for a potluck or a summer day when its too hot to bake a dessert. Its light, creamy and addicting!

After trying my mother in laws orange fluff recipe I just HAD to look into more of these desserts. I found some old cook books at multiple garage sales. Low and behold many of them had Jell-O recipes for me to try out! I started experimenting and came up with this Tropical Fluff recipe.
The flavors in this recipe are so good! The Fluff salads I made before all had cottage cheese in them as a base for the Jell-O. This recipe however, I decided to use sour cream instead. Wow was I impressed and I think you will be too!
Why you will LOVE this Tropical Fluff recipe
I think you will love this recipe because of how fast and easy it comes together. It is also perfect for a potluck, as I had brought this recipe to one before.
When choosing something to bring to a potluck I want it to be a crowd pleaser and to have a big enough recipe to serve everyone. This is a large amount for a dessert and I watched many people go back for more at the potluck I brought it to last time. I watched someone go back more than two times for this tropical fluff recipe! I hope you enjoy this recipe as much as they all did!
What do you serve with it?
I like to top off this recipe with mini marshmallows, you don't have to but our little ones love when we do!
Ingredients
- Sour Cream- Used as the base for the Jell-O to mix into
- Lemon Jell-O- It tastes amazing with the other flavors, I don't suggest using a different one with this recipe
- Canned crushed pineapple- Make sure to strain it VERY WELL, you can press it through a sieve
- Canned mandarins- Strained, well
- Cool Whip- Thawed
- Marshmallows- Optional, but delicious and adds to the classic dessert vibe
How do you make Tropical Fluff?
- Add the sour cream into a large bowl and place the Jell-O on top
- Mix well, then fold in the strained mandarins and pineapple
- Fold in the cool whip, smooth out the top then add mini marshmallows on top
- Cover in and place it in the fridge to set for at least an hour before serving.

How do you store it?
Store it in the fridge for up to 3 days. If a lot of liquid develops in the bottom over time just strain it off. Make sure to strain the fruit the best you can before adding it to avoid too much liquid.
