Why this is the best ice cream
- No ice cream maker needed- Just mix and freeze!
- Made with basic ingredients- Heavy cream, sweetened condensed milk, and vanilla extract creates this dreamy homemade ice cream.
- Soft serve consistency- Let it thaw slightly for that perfect scoop of ice cream!
- Perfect with your favorite toppings- Add fresh strawberries, caramel sauce, hot fudge sauce, chocolate shavings or even home made granola! Anything you love can go on this recipe, I added sprinkles this time around because my kids wanted them.
- Endless Customization- This is the perfect base for all kinds of flavors and mix-ins!

Ingredients
- Heavy whipping cream, cold- Heavy cream is what makes this ice cream thick and creamy. When its is whipped it traps air, giving the ice cream its light and airy texture. Using heavy cream with at least 35% fat ensures the best consistency.
- Sweetened condensed milk- This replaces both the sugar and the eggs, giving the ice cream its sweetness and smooth texture. It also helps to prevent ice crystals from forming, so your ice cream stays soft and easy to scoop straight from the freezer.
- Vanilla extract- Pure vanilla extract is best but you can use artificial as well. It adds depth and flavor to this easy recipe.

How to make this homemade vanilla ice cream recipe

- Step 1: In a large bowl, beat the heavy whipping cream with hand mixer until stiff peaks form. This step creates the airy, creamy texture that makes this homemade ice cream recipe so good, then set it aside.

- Step 2: In a separate bowl, add in the condensed milk and vanilla extract. Mix well. Fold 1 cup of the whipped cream into the condensed milk, gently. We want everything to stay light and fluffy.

- Step 3: Add that to the rest of the whipped cream and gently fold it in. Make sure to fold from the bottom to the top gently so it stays fluffy. Do not over mix, you want to keep the smooth texture.

- Step 4: Transfer the ice cream to a freezer safe container or loaf pan with saran wrap and freeze it for at least 6 hours or over night. Then scoop and enjoy!
Tip: Let the ice cream sit at room temperature for 5 minutes before scooping for the best texture. Serve in a cone or in a bowl with hot fudge sauce, caramel sauce, chopped nuts, sprinkles or fresh fruit for an extra treat!
Fun Variations
- Cookies and Cream- Mix in crushed cookies before freezing, I have added Oreo cookies before and it was amazing! I mixed some into the ice cream and I also added more Oreos on top before setting it into the freezer.
- Chocolate chip- Stir in mini chocolate chips for a fun twist!
Storage
Store your homemade ice cream recipe in an airtight container in the freezer for up to 1 to 2 months. If it hardens too much, let it soften slightly for that perfect scoop of vanilla ice cream.

Would this work for chocolate or other flavours?

You could probably drizzle some chocolate sauce in there, I have added strawberry sauce and homemade blueberry sauce before and it turned out nice. I just swirled it in. I didn't fully mix it in though, just drizzles of it throughout and made swirls. You can always experiment. I want to try adding some cheesecake pieces and homemade raspberry sauce to it one day.
