Making pop corn the old fashioned way is so rewarding. It tastes better, you control the amount of salt that is added and there are no additives. I love drizzling ours with melted butter but you can skip that step if you choose to.

Recipe Ingredients

  • Popcorn kernels- Any variety works, but I choose no name to make this snack even cheaper to make than it already is!
  • Vegetable oil or coconut oil- These oils have a higher smoke point, I personally prefer the coconut oil but vegetable oil works great too.
  • Unsalted butter- Melted and unsalted so you can control the amount of salt later when you are adding it. You don’t have to add melted butter but its a preference for my family.
  • Salt- Salt to taste as soon as you stir in the melted butter, that way the salt can attach to the kernels better.

Storage

Popcorn is best eaten right away but I sometimes pop it ahead of time for movie nights and place it in a large zip lock bag or airtight container to have later. It will last for up to 2 days at room temperature.
