This creamy oatmeal is the best way I have ever eaten oatmeal. I used to think oatmeal was some sort of thick paste that made my stomach turn just looking at it. Turns out, there was just a better way to eat it!

I ignore the directions on the bag when it comes to making oatmeal. I add a lot more liquid to it and cook mine with both water and milk! I also add some heavy cream at the end and butter. Talk about a creamy concoction!
I remember being a kid and being served a bowl of oatmeal that I dreaded eating. It was thick, sticky and flavorless. As a cereal lover, I needed a healthier replacement so I set out to create a delicious oatmeal recipe that my family would love and others would approve of. It is in fact a favorite breakfast of mine now, even our children request it which says a lot!

How do you make Creamy Oatmeal?
- In a medium pot on medium heat, add in the oats and the water and bring it to a boil until it thickens. Make sure to stir occasionally so it doesn’t stick to the bottom.
- Once it thickens and most of the water is gone remove the pot from the heat and stir in the milk, butter, brown sugar and cinnamon. Mix until combined.
- Return the pot to medium low heat and allow it to thicken again, making sure to stir occasionally so it doesn’t stick to the bottom.
- Once it thickens up again to the desired texture, add in the heavy cream and mix.
- Bring it to a boil again, until desired creaminess and then remove it from the heat.
- Serve your oatmeal with additional brown sugar if wanted and add any toppings you’d like. I usually add a little extra brown sugar and more heavy cream.

How do you store leftover oatmeal?
Store it in the fridge in an airtight container for up to 5 days.
